Podcast: A Planet’s Musical Beacon “Hello” Music for the Original Ballet

The story of “We Will” is really about four friends; How age and experiences change peoples personalities, and how dynamics between friendships also change as a result, and how people face and grow from the challenges of becoming independent.

I absolutely loved the idea of an energetic flurry of activity as four friends meet and start to interact for the first time. There is a real sense of about to take off, and you can hear this in the following excerpt above, taken from part of the second movement of the ballet

Something about the image of a lone planet in space sending out a beacon of sound “here I am” felt right for this piece and is where it began. A kind of metaphor for how a person begins to communicate with the people around them from a young age. Here is that musical beacon:
